Year 6 Celebrate NE Festival of Languages
Year 6 recently took part in the NE Festival of Languages, an annual celebration that promotes learning and appreciation of different languages and cultures in the North East of England. World Book Day in Year 6CT
6CT enjoyed celebrating World Book Day. We read Eric by Shaun Tan and spent some time discussing its themes and illustrations, thinking about how Eric might have been feeling and why he behaved the way he did. The children then wrote their own short stories, inspired by the book and Eric's mysterious visit.

Forest School fun!
Reception had so much fun at Forest School this week. We made dens, seesaws and tested them to see if they worked and just enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine! What a lovely way to end our week!

Learning about World War I with 'That History Bloke'.
Class 6 CT thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon with 'That History Bloke' learning about World War I! They learnt about the story of local hero Thomas Young, a young soldier from Durham, who received the Victoria Cross for his bravery.

Can we 'huff and puff' like The Big Bad Wolf?
Reception held their own investigation to find out and as you can see, we took this rather seriously! We investigated whether we could 'huff and puff' like The Big Bad Wolf to make objects move. We chose different materials and objects and made predictions whether we could blow them away or not. Reception then discussed their properties and thought about why some may be easier to move than others. As you can see, we were very competitive!

RSPB Big Bird Watch 2026
It was another brilliant Forest School session this week in Reception! The children dug with their new trowels and made some delicious looking plates of food for the birds. Some children even found some worms as the toppings! We are certain the birds will thoroughly enjoy them.

'Peg a prayer' in Reception
As part of their 'Mission' from our Celebration of the Word this week, Reception could choose a name from our box and 'peg a prayer' to them. The children were respectful and thought of a prayer to say for their friend. We left it out over the week for the children to choose different friends, knowing that on different days, some people need our prayers for different reasons.

Closing Our Jubilee Year: Pilgrims of Hope
To bring the Jubilee Year – Pilgrims of Hope – to a meaningful close, our whole school gathered together for a special Celebration of the Word. It was a beautiful moment of unity, reflection, and gratitude, as we looked back on the journey we have shared throughout the year. A Magical Evening at Our Christmas Drop‑In
