Year 5 enjoyed a wonderful visit to Holy Island, where they explored one of the most important centres of early Christianity in Britain. Walking in the footsteps of St Aidan and St Cuthbert helped the children understand how faith spread through prayer, worship and service.

As part of the visit, the children searched the shoreline for Cuthie beads, tiny fossils traditionally linked to St Cuthbert. This helped them make a special connection with the island's Christian heritage and the stories that have been passed down through generations.

The pupils also learned about the Viking invasion of Lindisfarne in AD 793 and reflected on how the Christian community remained strong in faith despite facing great challenges. It was a memorable day that brought together our learning in History and RE, helping us appreciate the courage, resilience and witness of the early Christians.
