Why are we called Star of the Sea?

Our school is named after Our Lady, Star of the Sea, one of the many beautiful titles given to Mary, the mother of Jesus. For centuries, sailors have looked to the stars to guide them safely home. In the same way, Mary is a guiding light for Christians, always leading us towards her Son, Jesus.

Mary's life was marked by faith, courage and trust in God. When the Angel Gabriel asked her to become the mother of Jesus, she responded with a wholehearted "yes" to God's plan. Throughout her life, she remained faithful, following Jesus and encouraging others to trust in Him.

As the patron saint of our school, Mary inspires everything we do. We strive to follow her example by living lives rooted in faith, hope and love. Just as a bright star helps travellers find the right path, Mary helps our school community keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and grow as His disciples.

The title Star of the Sea is particularly meaningful for our school family. It reminds us that, no matter what challenges we face, Mary is a constant guide who leads us safely towards Christ. Through prayer, worship and service to others, we seek to follow her example and become beacons of kindness, compassion and hope within our community.

"Our Lady Star of the Sea, pray for us."
