Is there a more exciting way to begin our Viking topic than for Year 5 to be transported back in time to the age of the mighty Vikings?

Year 5 were transported back in time to the age of the mighty Vikings when That History Bloke came to visit us! It was an exciting and unforgettable way to launch our brand-new History unit all about the Vikings. As soon as the workshop began, we were introduced to fierce Viking warriors, brave explorers and powerful kings. The stories were full of drama, bravery and adventure, and we were completely hooked!

One of the most exciting parts of the visit was getting to try on Viking armour. We learned how Vikings protected themselves in battle and discovered that their armour was much heavier than we expected! Some of us even got to hold replica weapons and shields. It really helped us imagine what life might have been like for a Viking warrior preparing for battle.

We also explored where the Vikings came from and why they travelled across the seas. We discovered that they were not just raiders, but also traders, explorers and skilled craftsmen. Their longships allowed them to journey to places as far away as Britain, and even beyond!

The workshop was interactive, fun and full of interesting facts. We asked lots of questions and impressed That History Bloke with our enthusiasm and curiosity.
