Year 3 Visit to Beamish Museum

Year 3

April 16, 2024

In Year 3 we started our new History topic with a visit to Beamish Museum. We learned about life as a miner in Victorian times and even went into the mine to see what it would have been like. We also learned about the 1842 Colliery Act which meant that girls, women and boys under 10 years of age could not work down a mine. We listened to both sides of the argument and then voted to say if we agreed with the Act. We had great fun and learned lots about life as a miner during the reign of Queen Victoria.
