As part of our topic on Evolution and Inheritance, we learned how Charles Darwin made a five year voyage and explored the Galapagos Islands. He found that finches on different islands had different foods and so their beaks evolved differently.
We used bulldog clips, spoons and tweezers to represent the beaks and string, spaghetti, cereal and seeds to represent the food. We explored which beak was best at picking up different types of food. It was good fun and we were surprised at some of the results!
