Our Year 6 pupils have shown their culinary skills this week by creating a delicious vegetable and bean stew accompanied by rosemary infused bread rolls! Before cooking, the children watched examples of healthy vegetarian dishes created by Jamie Oliver who also demonstrated easy ways to break apart or chop vegetables safely and in a fun way. The children then set about washing and preparing the vegetables and discussing food hygiene rules. After preparing the stew and allowing it to cook in the slow cookers, the children then found out more about seasonal foods. Using this knowledge, the children designed their own recipes based on our class recipe. They hope to try these recipes out at home! The dish the children created was delicious (as were the bread rolls which were in high demand!). The children enjoyed a fun food tasting session. This was all topped off with a fantastic afternoon of sporting events. What a great way to end our Wellbeing Week!
