Y6 Science Experiment

Year 6

January 30, 2024

We decided that we would run around the playground for 7 minutes to make our hearts beat faster and then measure our heart rate as it decreased once we stopped running. We predicted what our heart rate would be straight after exercise and how many minutes it would take to return to normal.

First, we measured our resting heart rate in class. Then we went into the playground and ran to make our hearts beat faster. As soon as we stopped running, we measured and recorded our heart rate, then did this every minute for 10 minutes until the rate returned to normal.

Some people were very close to their predictions!

We decided that using an electronic heart rate monitor would help to make this a fair test.
