The Mummification of the Great Cleopato!

Year 3

February 13, 2024

In history, Year 3 set up an experiment to see what would happen if we embalmed a tomato.  Firstly, we observed a tomato to see what it looked like. We decided it was ripe and fresh and the skin was smooth and red. To start the embalming process we cut the top off the tomato and removed it’s insides as they aren’t required in the Afterlife. We then dried and cleaned the tomato to remove any germs.  Next, we mixed table salt and bicarbonate of soda to make Natron. We filled the tomato with the Natron and put it in a small plastic container. We then filled the container with Natron. The tomato’s sarcophagus (plastic container) will be sealed shut for 2 weeks and after the two weeks we will observe the tomato to see what has happened. We have named our mummy… The Great Cleopato!
