Parliament Afternoon in Year 6

Year 6

December 6, 2023

On Wednesday afternoon, Gillian Bell, a parliamentary education officer, came into school to tell us about parliament and how government works. It was very interesting and we learned a lot! We even heard a message from our MP – Sir Alan Campbell!

Afterwards, we went back to our class and in groups we thought of new laws we would like to introduce. There was lots of discussion and then each group presented their new law to the class. These included:

• No More Homelessness

• No Waste Week

• Free Hot Dinners in School

• No More Littering

At the end we voted and Free Hot Dinners won!

Which one would you have voted for?
