Magnet Attraction

Year 3

May 2, 2024

Today we explored which materials were magnetic. Most forces that we use every day need contact, e.g. lifting, pushing and friction. Forces like magnetism and gravity don’t need contact, they act ‘over a distance’.  Last lesson we met magnets and tested their strength.

Today we investigated how many objects around the room were magnetic We then sorted coins to find out which coins were magnetic. We discovered that copper coins made after 1992 and silver coins made after 2012 were magnetic.
