Holocaust Memorial Day!

Year 5

January 26, 2024

Four children for Star of the Sea Primary had the amazing opportunity to talk at this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day on the 26th January 2024. The theme this year was ‘The Fragility of Freedom’. We listened to some amazing guest speakers who talked about the Holocaust, and how freedom, even today, can be fragile.

The children who attended the event were able to speak and give a powerful speech about Anne Frank and her loss of freedom, and even shared a wonderful poem about the fragility of freedom. We shared the stage with a number of different Primary, middle and high schools who gave their time to talk about the Holocaust. It was an amazing and powerful day for all involved, and the children who were able to make the even spoke beautifully.

Year 5 also created some amazing pieces of artwork, which represented the fragility of freedom, which was on display during the service. They looked amazing! Well done everyone in Year 5, it was an amazing and though provoking day.
