Star of the Sea RC Primary School

A place where we Love, Pray, Learn and Grow

Why our school is special!

At Star of the Sea Primary school we offer our pupils a huge range of activities to make their time here most enjoyable and memorable.

In this section of the website we show you some of the opportunities each child can access during their time here.

We all shine brightly (around the world!) at Star of the Sea!

Here at Star of The Sea, we are committed to achieving and maintaining our 'International School Award'

We are proud that we have been successful in this award since 2014!.

Throughout our continued work towards this award, we give children the opportunity to develop an increased knowledge, awareness and tolerance about other countries, cultures and languages. We want to build confidence in communicating with people from different backgrounds, to instill more skills to successfully live and work in a global and mobile society, to develop literacy skills when writing stories and letters for specifics audience and for our pupils to develop confidence with their foreign language skills.

A key aim of the ISA is to create important links with schools abroad to exchange knowledge and skills. We are lucky to have a strong link with Colegio Público Sánchez Albornoz in Spain. Here are some photographs of a recent Christmas card exchange between our two school. Que buena!

As an Activemark holder and Healthy school, we encourage all of our community to engage in a healthy lifestyle.  We all take part in the Daily Mile initiative and the children can earn badges each month by coming to school in an eco-friendly manner, e.g. bike, walk, park and stride etc.

We encourage healthy eating and drinking through healthy playtime snacks and only water in drinks bottles.

Extra curricular sports and activities and active breaks are all part of our aim for children to be active for at least 60 minutes a day outside of PE lessons.

We have offered clubs such as dance, dodgeball, fencing, football, Judo, Rock-it ball, Tag Rugby and more.  Our aim is to allow children to access as many different sports as we can so that they will develop a love of activity for the future.
